At the Heart of this "Eve and the Forbidden Fruit"

is a rejection of  ideas that are out of place

in a society that endorses

honesty, equality and inclusivity . . .

HONESTY

Why is it so hard for religious people to be honest?

When it comes to the female form, many men from religious backgrounds find it difficult to be honest.

The following is a typical conversation:

Religious Male: I never look at women!

Me: Really?

I only have eyes for my  wife, so I don't look at anyone else!

So if a beautiful woman walked past you, you wouldn't notice?

That's right

Have you ever been captured by a pair of Captivating eyes?

What about Cars . . . can you appreciate a beautiful motor vehicle, like a vintage car, or a fancy sports car, or a nice motorbike . . .

 Sure, I love cars!

Well, if you can appreciate the beauty of a car/motorbike, then it would be impossible not to gaze upon, and appreciate, the beauty of a woman!!!

*********************************************************************************************************************************************

Perhaps religious men just can't be honest,

but the publishers of car and motorcycle magazines are certainly not so naive -

they know that people who like beautiful vehicles will also appreciate a beautiful body:

"Along came a Spider . . ."
Artistic photographer & copyright: David Entz

Of this piece, David says:

This is only the second time I have ever photographed a motorbike.
I looked at the bike
and thought I really want to do something different with it.
I always had this thought of
a nude woman on the side of the bike like an alien or a spider.
Fortunately Dee was able to do what others may not,
and truly along came a spider...

The insistence to pretend that one does not or cannot notice a woman is, of course, absurd.

Poor views of the human body start somewhere. . . ideas from a particular culture, upbringing or religion
that can take hold from an early age.

 Many from religious perspectives
 have suggested that the body
- and in particular the female body -
is evil, and a dangerous temptation.

Andy Kabanoff has written reflections for his chapter in "The Self-esteem Nude" section.

The following includes a few excepts
from Andy's reflections:

  "I read the Bible.
I could appreciate the Genesis accounts as
poetry rather than science,
but to me the message was quite clear.
God approved of his creation - said it was good."

"It was only after the Fall that a bunch of bad things came about. One of those was feeling shame in nakedness and consequently covering up.

My studies in anthropology made me aware of many societies where clothing was minimal or nonexistent and where, apparently, sexual depravity was not rampant.

That missionaries would force clothing upon such people always seemed ridiculous to me.
Creating a whole bunch of repressions
in our 'civilised' societies hadn't helped us much.
Even without my studies in psychology that was obvious."

"Shame in nakedness was a result of the Fall.

There were many results of the Fall listed in Genesis chapter three. It seemed to me that these were not things that we, as a society, were prepared to accept as givens.

We put great effort into reducing these things.
Pain in childbearing. The struggle to survive.
Enmity between man and woman. . .
None of these are good things.
So why should shame in nakedness be a good thing?"

"Generally I photograph nudes in nature
the beauty of landscape
and the beauty of the human body . . .

These shoots were mainly about creating beautiful art  but a number of my subjects gave me strong cause to see
nude photography as an important and indeed therapeutic thing."

In his chapter,
within the  section "The Self-esteem Nude",
Andy shows the many and varied instances where bad religious perceptions
and other relational problems impact young woman and their self-esteem and body issues:
unhealthy inhibitions, relationship problems, repression, victimisation, sexuality
and concerns with one's body -
reflections all interwoven with Andy's beautiful art!

"Since then I've done many fine art nude shoots  some with relatively experienced models,
more with first-time nude subjects . . .

they are normal people,
and many of them have the insecurities of normal people.

Some need no affirmation but for some the shoot proves to be a growth experience  overcoming obstacles,
unhealthy inhibitions  enabling them to tread more confidently in their world  figuratively (and if need be literally)
naked and unashamed."
